Transfers done?

August 11th, 2009 Jaymes

So then, we've brought in Peter Crouch, Seb Bassong, Kyle Naughton & Kyle Walker for around £22 million.

Out the door have gone Darren "Ungrateful" Bent, Gilberto, Rocha and Didi Zokora for around £21.

The transfer window isn't closed yet, but I can't see us bringing in another player. Some supporters on various forums are sure that Harry will bring in a marquee signing such as Joe Cole or Ashley Young on the last day of the window. To be honest, I can't see either of these two coming in.

I think we've got a quality squad and management team to see us push for 5th or 6th. I do believe that we are better equipped than Everton & Villa.

If Hughes can work some magic up at Eastlands, City should be challenging for a top 5 position, although I don't think all those personalities will gel in time.

I can see the top four staying as it is unfortunately. If we finish in 6th and go on a F.A. Cup run, I'll be a happy lillywhite.

Lets look at evolution not revolution, which has been our problem. A complete overhaul of the squad each year gives no stability – hence poor starts.

Leave Modric on the left and let him drift in and cause problems.
Another defensive midfielder means a loss of creativity unless you get a Gerrard type player (and they're like rocking horse sh1t)

Young and Cole wont be coming to the lane so lets forget that idea.

We have options so lets use them before adding moe to the conundrum

We started last season wanting a left sided midfielder and that is still the case,I keep reading about Ashley Young but he is right footed !
Also central defence still needs strengthening.

Young wont leave Villa for us wake up people for gods sake, he didnt want to come here last time we made an offer either. Villa to Spurs isnt that like going from Burnley to Wolves whats the point.
JJ needs to be replaced, if not right now in the next 12 months, alternatively bring in Modric and get in a decent LM who will join us.

I would give Villa Bentley + Jenas + 10M for Young. We have to get this guy! It's the final piece of the puzzle imo.

We are strong but we have NOT made up ground on the clubs above us and we still have the same weaknesses we had last year – not enough strength in depth in defense, no midfield general, no left winger, and no top-four striker. Oh yes – and the same mid-table manager. Other than that there's no doubt the top six are shaking in their boots. Dream on…

to the anonymous comment made at 12:17 we are building a team one that is capable of challenging it was only a couple of years ago we could have and should have finished 4th get behind your team if it is your team, the rollercoaster ride of emotions is all part of it otherwise we would all support the likes of Man Ure of Chelski good forbid

Get rid of Jenas a nice 9 – 10m fee there and get Sissoko or i agree that a Madrid fringe player might be a big Deadline day signing Van dar vaart wud be cheaper but wud luv to see sneijder come in and partner wilson in the middle that wud be class. Keep modric on the left giv him the free role and we destroy teams and run the game. I agree that Keane shdnt be captain now although he played well in the asia cup ( I no a shit cup ) but his touch look good for the first time since being bk. I think Harry nos hes the only 1 wiv a voice out there so im worried hes gunna try and squeeze keane defoe and crouch in the same team wiv modric aswell which wnt work well! Stop talking bout top fou it only set us up 4 a fall. Lets take it game by game nd see if we can do summin descent this season. Another trip to wembley wudnt go a miss either!!! COYS

We need another midfield general to push other teams around and unsettle them…Jenas needs to be doing this and if he can't then sell him and get Sissoko.

We have a good squad of players now. Let be realistic why would anyone wanna play for spurs this year? We are a tread water team, ie going no where.. There are 6-7 better teams than spurs and have been in all but 2 seasons since the PL begain.. I love spurs to death, but we've found our limit, 5th downward.. Let's just enjoy our little cup runs and enjoy it when we get the odd victory over a big side.. That way we can stop the years and years of over expectation we place on our selves and stop the continual heart ache..

Veloso is no better than O'hara, its just his agents and media over in Portugal trying to hype him, he truely is shite, there is a decent player at Sporting called Mountihna I think, but Veloso isn't any good, Bostock is a better player, Sporting are basicly BANKCRUPT so need is fee to make interest payment to banks that now run that once great club.

Sorry to say, but I think Peter Crouch was our marquee signing for this tranfer window.

My prediction is that Harry pull off a nice little coup by signing someone from Real Madrid, we know that he is intrested in a couple of fringe player and Real need to sell. watch this space!!!!

There isn't a chance of us getting Young as he wants £100k a week! Veloso and Sissoko aren't even proven and may take a season to settle. I'd sooner keep Jenas to be honest, he's a great box to box player and is great in the big games. I feel we have a lovely blend of skill and pace in midfield now and that's why we are capable of beating teams like Chelsea as we can overrun their midfield.

Why cant we push for 5th or even 4th?

Hardly unrealistic. If the season started when Harry came in last year, we would of been pushing for fourth, and this year we have strengthened alot while others around us havn't so much…….
