Why We Need To Move

Many Spurs fans are starting to believe that we are not that far behind our neighbors and deadly rivals Arsenal.
They may be right….for now.
We have never played in the Champions League and have not sampled any type of European competition since 1999, but our famous club is still in the top 20 World’s Richest Football Club’s List.
We have been adding players like Davids, Routledge, Mido, Defoe, Robinson, etc to our squad, while Arsenal have been fighting to keep some of their stars. Ashley Cole recently signed a new contract, but I wonder how long he’ll remain at the club. Vieira, the torn that has dug into us for the past 8 years has also jumped ship. They also failed in attracting top players.
Some of you may be wondering why this article is called “Why We Need To Move”? It’s obvious really. Here are some facts:
White Hart Lane Stadium Capacity: Just over 36,000.
Turnover from season tickets: £13.5 million per season (taken from 23,000 seats allocated to season tickets).
Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium Capacity: 60,000
Expected turnover from season ticket sales: £30 million (taken from 45,000 seats allocated to season tickets).
While they may not have the funds to compete with us now, they will overhaul us in the next 3 – 5 years.
Now, imagine us having a ground that housed 60,000 seats. We could also have 45,000 seats allocated to season tickets. The turnover from those season tickets would generate approx £30 million. That is an increase of already £16.5 million. That alone could buy us a world class player.
We would then also have an allocation of approx 15,000 seats to fill, which, I am sure, wouldn’t be a problem at all.
The stadium expansion needs to be addressed within the next 3 years or there could be a problem as other clubs will soon be out-bidding us.
I am all for us moving from the Lane. It hates me to say that. But most of us that post on THBN have been to the ground. Those who have been, know that it would be impossible to expand the stadium by more than 10,000 seats, and even that’s pushing it.
We have been told that Levy is due to have a meeting with the council in December. Let’s hope that something comes of it.
We cannot expand White Hart Lane at the moment due to the transport infrastructure not being in place.
Are you for us moving from the Lane? If so, where in London do you think we could build a new stadium?

Do We Need Jenas?

The Sun and other media sources have stated that we have made another bid for the Newcastle midfielder.
Reports state that Daniel Levy has made an £8.5 million bid to Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd, but the bid was rejected out-right.
Newcastle have slapped a £15 million price tag on Jenas head. We have asked our sources continuously these past few days in order to see if these stories linking us with Jenas are true.
We have been informed by all three of our sources that we are actually in for Jermaine Jenas. We received no details on the amount bid by Levy though.
Whether or not we will reach an agreement with them is another thing altogether.
In my opinion, I feel that we do not need Jenas. If he was to arrive at our club for a more modest fee of say £6 million, then I would say that was good business.
We already have the largest squad of midfielders in the Premiership that already include England international Michael Carrick, Edgar ‘The Pitbull’ Davids, international midfielders Pedro Mendes and Teemu Tainio along with Sean Davis, Michael Brown, and newcomer Tom Huddlestone.
Where would Jenas fit into all of this? Why are Martin Jol and Daniel Levy so adamant in getting this midfielder?
My personal opinion is that he would definitely not offer anything new to our squad. It’s not like he scores goals, or makes many assists, so why? Why are we interested?
We, like many other unofficial sites were told a few weeks ago that Brown and Davis were sure to leave the club. Nothing has materialsed though.
I guess we will have to wait and see.
